Do I need to know Beancount or accounting to use it?

No. Ask your questions in plain English and the assistant does the lookups for you, showing the results in a readable format. There is no query language to learn.

What kinds of things can I ask?

Anything about your own books — how much you spent on a category, your income, whether a bill was paid, or how one period compares to another — answered with your real numbers.

Can it add or change transactions for me?

It proposes changes as an inline diff. Nothing is written to your ledger until you review it and click Approve, and each approved change lands as a Git commit you can revert.

Can it read receipts and bank statements?
