What's Inside

Fiscal years end December 31; Tencent reports under IFRS in millions of RMB and is listed in Hong Kong (HKEX stock code 700). FY2022–FY2025 come from the annual results announcements and annual reports — FY2022 on the restated presentation published with the FY2023 results, so the series is comparable — and FY2026Q2 is the quarter ended June 30, 2026 from the results announcement filed with HKEX; FY2026Q1 is not modeled. Research and development sits inside general and administrative expenses and goodwill inside intangible assets in Tencent's statements, so those two core accounts stay at zero; non-controlling interests are included in Equity:CommonStockAndAPIC.

Quick Start

bash
uvx --from beancount bean-check main.bean
uvx --from beanquery bean-query main.bean \
"SELECT year, sum(position) WHERE account ~ '^Income:Revenue' GROUP BY year ORDER BY year"

Zero output from bean-check means the ledger is internally consistent: every
income statement sums to zero and every balance-sheet snapshot reconciles to
the filed totals. The query prints revenue by calendar year; income is a
credit, so it shows as a negative number. Open main.bean in Fava
or import it into beancount.io to explore it visually.

Methodology

  • Balance sheet — pad / balance directives assert each period-end
figure against the filing named in that period file's source banner.
  • Income statement — one zero-sum transaction per period: Income
negative (credit), Expenses positive (debit), with the arithmetic check in
    a comment directly above it.
  • Unit — MRMB; 204,785 MRMB means 204,785 million Chinese yuan (renminbi).
