海事検査士はNAMSやSAMSの資格会費や継続教育費用を開業費として計上してしまうことが多いが、IRSは経常的な会費、継続教育の受講料、E&O保険料を、180か月で償却するのではなく、支払った年に控除できる通常の事業経費として扱う。
