What's Inside

Fiscal years end the last Sunday in June (52/53-week calendar; FY2024 had 53 weeks). All figures sourced from Lam Research Corporation Form 10-K filings (SEC CIK 0000707549). Structurally, "Deferred profit" is the deferred-revenue line, FY2023–FY2024 carry labeled restructuring postings from a plan completed in FY2024, and a ten-for-one split in October 2024 restated all share counts.

Quick Start

bash
uvx --from beancount bean-check main.bean
uvx --from beanquery bean-query main.bean \
"SELECT year, sum(position) WHERE account ~ '^Income:Revenue' GROUP BY year ORDER BY year"

Zero output from bean-check means the ledger is internally consistent: every
income statement sums to zero and every balance-sheet snapshot reconciles to
the filed totals. The query prints revenue by calendar year; income is a
credit, so it shows as a negative number. Open main.bean in Fava
or import it into beancount.io to explore it visually.

Methodology

  • Balance sheet — pad / balance directives assert each period-end
figure against the filing named in that period file's source banner.
  • Income statement — one zero-sum transaction per period: Income
negative (credit), Expenses positive (debit), with the arithmetic check in
    a comment directly above it.
  • Unit — MUSD; 23,232.69 MUSD means 23,232.69 million US dollars.
  • Additional accounts — Assets:Current:Inventories,
Assets:NonCurrent:RestrictedCash, opened beyond the standard chart (see each
    account's open line in main.bean).
  • Deferred profit — the filing's deferred-revenue caption sits on
    Liabilities:Current:DeferredRevenue.
  • Restructuring — FY2023 and FY2024 post the filing's restructuring lines as
labeled second postings (Expenses:CostOfRevenue for the cost-of-goods-sold
share, Expenses:OtherNet for the operating-expense share), never folded
    unlabeled into another line.
  • Goodwill and intangibles — separate face lines through FY2024; from FY2025
one combined line, split per Note 12 with intangibles at the note figure and
    goodwill as the face residual.
  • Reclassification — the FY2024 10-K folded "Investments" into prepaid/other
current and "Restricted cash and investments" into other assets; FY2024+
assert those accounts at zero with the face totals on the aggregate lines.
  • Treasury-heavy equity — buybacks exceed paid-in capital, so
Equity:CommonStockAndAPIC carries a net debit (positive) balance every
year; the balance sheet still ties to the filed totals.
