Comcast Corporation (CMCSA) Financial Statements in Beancount — Open Ledger

Comcast's income statement and balance sheet, FY2024 through FY2026Q3, as a public, auditable plain-text Beancount ledger — reconstructed line by line from the company's own Form 10-K and 10-Q filings and version-controlled in git. Part of the Open Ledger project on beancount.io.

FY20252025-12-31123,70719,998

Amounts in MUSD (millions of US dollars), exactly as the ledger records them.

What's Inside

Fiscal years end December 31. All figures sourced from Comcast Corporation Form 10-K and Form 10-Q filings (SEC EDGAR, CIK 0001166691). FY2024–FY2025 include the Versant cable networks, spun off tax-free on January 2, 2026, so the FY2026Q3 balance sheet excludes them and goodwill steps down $8.3 billion; history starts at FY2024, the earliest audited year this bootstrap models.

Quick Start

bash
uvx --from beancount bean-check main.bean
uvx --from beanquery bean-query main.bean \
  "SELECT year, sum(position) WHERE account ~ '^Income:Revenue' GROUP BY year ORDER BY year"

Zero output from bean-check means the ledger is internally consistent: every
income statement sums to zero and every balance-sheet snapshot reconciles to
the filed totals. The query prints revenue by calendar year; income is a
credit, so it shows as a negative number. Open main.bean in Fava
or import it into beancount.io to explore it visually.

Methodology

  • Balance sheet — pad / balance directives assert each period-end
    figure against the filing named in that period file's source banner.
  • Income statement — one zero-sum transaction per period: Income
    negative (credit), Expenses positive (debit), with the arithmetic check in
    a comment directly above it.
  • Unit — MUSD; 29,298 MUSD means 29,298 million US dollars.
  • Additional accounts — Assets:NonCurrent:Licenses holds the $59.4 billion
    of cable franchise rights (indefinite-lived, never amortized);
    Assets:NonCurrent:LongTermInvestments holds the investments caption;
    film and television costs sit in Assets:NonCurrent:Other beside other
    noncurrent assets; Equity:TreasuryStock holds treasury stock at cost as a
    debit apart from Equity:CommonStockAndAPIC; redeemable noncontrolling
    interests sit in mezzanine Equity:Temporary:RedeemableNoncontrollingInterests;
    depreciation plus amortization share Expenses:DepreciationAndAmortization
    and interest expense has its own Expenses:Interest line.
  • Attributable net income — each income statement deducts the filing's
    noncontrolling-interest share on Expenses:OtherNet (a credit in every
    period modeled: the NCI share is a loss), so the Equity:Adjustments
    offset is net income attributable to Comcast, the EPS basis.
  • Rounding — Comcast prints whole millions rounded from unrounded values,
    so a few component columns sum 1–2 away from the printed total; the affected
    line is modeled 1–2 off its printed value with an explicit comment, and
    revenue, operating income and both net income lines are always the printed
    values.
