What's Inside

Fiscal years end May 31; SEC EDGAR CIK 0000723254 (Nasdaq: CTAS). FY2022 through
FY2026 come from each year's Form 10-K as originally filed. FY2027Q1 (three
months ended August 31, 2026) comes from the earnings release furnished as
Form 8-K Exhibit 99, which carries the full consolidated condensed statements;
the Form 10-Q for that quarter had not been filed when the period was added.
The filings report in thousands, so every amount keeps three decimals of MUSD.

the filed totals. The query prints revenue by calendar year; income is a
credit, so it shows as a negative number. Open main.bean in Fava
or import it into beancount.io to explore it visually.

Methodology

  • Balance sheet — pad / balance directives assert each period-end
    figure against the filing named in that period file's source banner.
  • Income statement — one zero-sum transaction per period: Income
    negative (credit), Expenses positive (debit), with the arithmetic check in
    a comment directly above it.
  • Unit — MUSD; 3,013.981 MUSD means 3,013.981 million US dollars.
  • Rental inventory — Assets:Current:UniformsAndRentalItemsInService
    holds the filing's "uniforms and other rental items in service": garments,
    mats and towels already at customers, amortized into cost of sales. It is
    kept apart from Assets:Current:Inventory (inventories, net), as the
    balance sheet does.
  • Cost of revenue — two Expenses:CostOfRevenue postings per period, one
    per filed line: cost of uniform rental and facility services, and cost of
    other. The income statement prints no cost-of-sales total. Revenue is one
    Income:Revenue posting; the rental / other split is in its comment.
  • UniFirst transaction expenses — the filing's separate operating line
    (fiscal 2026 onward) is a second, labeled
    Expenses:SellingGeneralAdministrative posting, never folded in unlabeled.
  • Interest — Expenses:OtherNet carries interest expense and interest
    income as one labeled posting each.
  • Other mapped captions — Assets:NonCurrent:IntangibleAssets is service
    contracts, net; Assets:NonCurrent:LongTermInvestments is investments;
    Assets:NonCurrent:OperatingLeaseRightOfUse and
    Liabilities:Current:OperatingLeases / Liabilities:NonCurrent:OperatingLeases
    are the operating lease captions; Equity:TreasuryStock is treasury stock at
    cost. Residual …:Other lines are itemized in each period file and tie to
    the filing's subtotals.
