What's Inside

Fiscal years end May 31; SEC EDGAR CIK 0000110621 (NYSE: RPM). FY2022 through
FY2026 come from each year's Form 10-K as originally filed, and FY2027Q1 (three
months ended August 31, 2026, unaudited) from the Form 10-Q. Net income is the
amount attributable to RPM International Inc. stockholders. The filings report
in thousands, so every amount keeps three decimals of MUSD.

Quick Start

bash
uvx --from beancount bean-check main.bean
uvx --from beanquery bean-query main.bean \
"SELECT year, sum(position) WHERE account ~ '^Income:Revenue' GROUP BY year ORDER BY year"

Zero output from bean-check means the ledger is internally consistent: every
income statement sums to zero and every balance-sheet snapshot reconciles to
the filed totals. The query prints revenue by calendar year; income is a
credit, so it shows as a negative number. Open main.bean in Fava
or import it into beancount.io to explore it visually.

Methodology

  • Balance sheet — pad / balance directives assert each period-end
figure against the filing named in that period file's source banner.
  • Income statement — one zero-sum transaction per period: Income
negative (credit), Expenses positive (debit), with the arithmetic check in
    a comment directly above it.
  • Unit — MUSD; 2,215.593 MUSD means 2,215.593 million US dollars.
  • Net income and noncontrolling interests — the Equity:Adjustments
offset in each income statement is net income attributable to RPM
International Inc. stockholders. The share attributable to noncontrolling
interests is a labeled Expenses:OtherNet posting, deducted as the filing
deducts it; Equity:NoncontrollingInterests holds the balance-sheet caption.
  • Revenue and segments — one Income:Revenue posting equal to net sales.
The reportable-segment split is in its comment, as originally filed: four
segments through fiscal 2025, three (Construction Products, Performance
    Coatings, Consumer) from fiscal 2026.
  • Restructuring and impairment — the filing's separate "restructuring
expense" and "goodwill impairment" lines are each a second, labeled
Expenses:SellingGeneralAdministrative posting, never folded in unlabeled.
The income statement prints no operating income subtotal.
  • Other income and expense — Expenses:OtherNet carries interest expense,
investment (income) expense, net, (gain) on sales of assets and business,
net, and other (income) expense, net, as one labeled posting each.
  • Fiscal 2025 income tax — two Expenses:IncomeTax postings: the filed
provision is split to show the 43.922 MUSD deferred tax adjustment to U.S.
foreign tax credit carryforwards disclosed in Note H. They add to the filed
    provision.
  • Other mapped captions — Assets:Current:Inventory is inventories;
    Assets:NonCurrent:IntangibleAssets is other intangible assets, net;
    Assets:NonCurrent:OperatingLeaseRightOfUse and
Liabilities:NonCurrent:OperatingLeases are the operating lease captions
(the filing keeps the current lease liability inside other accrued
liabilities); Equity:TreasuryStock is treasury stock at cost. Residual
…:Other lines are itemized in each period file and tie to the filing's
    subtotals.
