What's Inside

Fiscal years end December 31; SEC CIK 0000033185. FY2021 through FY2025 come from each year's audited Form 10-K, as originally filed; FY2026Q3 comes from the Form 10-Q for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, so every line is a filed caption. The FY2023 Form 10-K first presents redeemable noncontrolling interests as its own mezzanine caption; in FY2021–FY2022 that amount sits inside the single "Noncontrolling interests including redeemable noncontrolling interests" equity line. The ledger records US GAAP only; the company's adjusted (non-GAAP) measures are not entries.

Quick Start

bash
uvx --from beancount bean-check main.bean
uvx --from beanquery bean-query main.bean \
"SELECT year, sum(position) WHERE account ~ '^Income:Revenue' GROUP BY year ORDER BY year"

Zero output from bean-check means the ledger is internally consistent: every
income statement sums to zero and every balance-sheet snapshot reconciles to
the filed totals. The query prints revenue by calendar year; income is a
credit, so it shows as a negative number. Open main.bean in Fava
or import it into beancount.io to explore it visually.

Methodology

  • Balance sheet — pad / balance directives assert each period-end
figure against the filing named in that period file's source banner.
  • Income statement — one zero-sum transaction per period: Income
negative (credit), Expenses positive (debit), with the arithmetic check in
    a comment directly above it.
  • Unit — MUSD; 1,692.5 MUSD means 1,692.5 million US dollars.
  • Additional accounts — Expenses:DepreciationAndAmortization,
    Expenses:Interest, Equity:TreasuryStock,
    Equity:NoncontrollingInterests and
    Equity:Temporary:RedeemableNoncontrollingInterests, opened beyond the
standard chart (see each account's open line in main.bean).
  • Noncontrolling interests — the income statement's "Less: Net income
attributable to noncontrolling interests" deduction is a labeled posting on
Expenses:OtherNet, and the Equity:Adjustments offset is the attributable
net income (net income attributable to Equifax), as filed.
  • Other income (expense), net — a debit balance posts to
Expenses:OtherNet, a credit balance to Income:OtherNet, never both for
    that line in one period.
  • Equity:TreasuryStock — treasury stock at cost plus the stock held by
employee benefits trusts at cost (5.9 every period), combined with the split
    in each period's comment.
