What's Inside

Fiscal years end on the last day of February and are named for the calendar year they end in. All figures sourced from Constellation Brands, Inc. Form 10-K / 10-Q filings (SEC EDGAR, CIK 0000016918) and the Q2 fiscal 2027 earnings release (8-K Exhibit 99.1, 2026-10-06).

Quick Start

bash
uvx --from beancount bean-check main.bean
uvx --from beanquery bean-query main.bean \
"SELECT year, sum(position) WHERE account ~ '^Income:Revenue' GROUP BY year ORDER BY year"

Zero output from bean-check means the ledger is internally consistent: every
income statement sums to zero and every balance-sheet snapshot reconciles to
the filed totals. The query prints revenue by calendar year; income is a
credit, so it shows as a negative number. Open main.bean in Fava
or import it into beancount.io to explore it visually.

Methodology

  • Balance sheet — pad / balance directives assert each period-end
figure against the filing named in that period file's source banner.
  • Income statement — one zero-sum transaction per period: Income
negative (credit), Expenses positive (debit), with the arithmetic check in
    a comment directly above it.
  • Unit — MUSD; 2,633 MUSD means 2,633 million US dollars.
  • Additional accounts — Assets:Current:Inventory,
    Assets:Current:HeldForSale, Assets:NonCurrent:LongTermInvestments,
    Equity:TreasuryStock, Equity:NoncontrollingInterests, Expenses:Interest,
opened beyond the standard chart (see each account's open line in
    main.bean).
  • Revenue — Income:Revenue is net sales: sales less excise taxes, both
    shown on the statement.
  • Impairments and divestitures — goodwill, trademark, brewery and
held-for-sale impairments and the gain or loss on sale of business (the
SVEDKA Divestiture and the 2025 Wine Divestitures) are labeled
Expenses:OtherNet postings, each read from that year's Form 10-K or 10-Q.
  • Unconsolidated investments — each component of "income (loss) from
unconsolidated investments" is its own labeled posting: equity in losses
from Canopy Growth, the impairment of that investment, and the fair-value
    changes on Canopy securities.
  • Net income — the net income (loss) attributable to CBI; the
    noncontrolling-interest share is a labeled Expenses:OtherNet posting.
  • As originally filed — each period comes from its own filing; later
filings recast some operating captions, and the period banners say where.
